Alun Evans has passed away

The FAW has announced the sad passing away of former secretary, Alun Evans.

Porth-born Alun had been in poor health for some time and passed-away on Saturday 12th November

He succeeded Trevor Morris as secretary of the association in 1982 and continued until 1995 when he left the association and was succeeded by David Collins.

He also sat on many UEFA and FIFA regulatory bodies. Later he returned as the LoW representative on the FAW Council.

For many years he was also involved with the Universities Athletics Union and was the secretary of Welsh League side UWIC.

A forthright individual, Alun was instrumental in the formation of the League of Wales and was a strong leader of the FAW policies.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
