PENRHYNCOCH are Champions

By Phil Woosnam

as previous headline was certainly spot on

The Spar Mid Wales League went down to the most exciting finale probably ever as Penrhyncoch scored with just five minutes remaining at Cae Baker to topple Knighton who were 2-1 up in their match at home to Llanrhaeadr.
The league has been very competitive throughout the season and couldn't have finished on a closer finish with the top two fighting it out to the death.
A late goal gained Penrhyncoch promotion back to the Cymru Alliance and we all wish them well for the future in what is a very difficult league with much travelling involved for Mid Wales clubs.
Newly promoted Radnor Valley have done the double in achieving another promotion up to the 1st Division in a memorable first season for them under Steve Pigott. They will undoubtedly be celebrating also tonight as they have come from well off the pace to pip both Aberystwyth Uni and Kerry at the final hurdle.

Where next?

Hay v Knighton tonight at Presteigne First cup semi-final at 7.30pm
LEAGUE goes down to the wire Last full days fixtures will decide Championship
