Football minnows Llanrhaeadr will take their place among the big clubs of North Wales football next season after the Football Association of Wales (FAW) overturned a controversial league decision yesterday evening although the League still have every right to appeal this decision within the next two weeks.
The villagers were delivered a massive blow after winning the Spar Division One League title by being told their facilities were not good enough to play in the Cymru Alliance for the first time in their history.
The club has been informed unofficially that their appeal was successful and they can now start planning for its first campaign in the highest division in Mid and North Wales football.
The row started following an end of season pitch inspection by Alliance officials who decided that Llanrhaeadr’s ground was not up to the necessary criteria, flagging up the fact that they did not have enough covered spectator areas.
Club officials will have to wait a little longer just in case the League appeal yesterday's decision.
