Five clubs progress in Welsh Cup

By Phil Woosnam

All looking forward to favourable ties

Five clubs from the Spar Mid Wales League remain in Wales' premier cup competition.
Pride of place must go to second division Llandrindod Wells who got through on penalties after drawing 3-3 with Llanrug Utd.
Newbridge gained an excellent 4-0 win away at Risca as did Builth Wells, 2-0 winners at Dinas Powis.
Montgomery and Llanidloes also fly the flag with the former comprehensive 4-0 victors at home to Connahs Quay Town whilst the latter came back from a 3-1 deficit at half-time to win 4-3 against Glantraeth.
Each club are now guaranteed £750 and this will be doubled if they win their 2nd Round tie.
Casualties yesterday included Rhosgoch, Aberaeron and Carno.
