By Phil Woosnam

Early days yet but.................

Its early days yet in the Spar Mid Walews League but the league is already starting to take shape with many of the pre-seaason contenders right up there in the title chase.

Llanrhaeadr, who had an excellent season last year, only to fall away at the death have got off to a ttremendous start and have yet to concede a league goal. Next Saturday, they have a league weekend off and face mighty Rhyl at home in the 1st Round proper of the Welsh Cup.

Berriew, most peoples choice to gain promotion back to the CA lie in second spot after a surprise midweek defeat at neighbours Waterloo Rovers.

Bow Street, under "Brains", have also had a good start, as they did last season and will hope to see out the whole season this time around.

Other clubs to note early doors are newly promoted Llanidloes and last years Champions Penparcau.

Dyffryn Banw and Presteigne remain pointless and will look to improve sooner rather than later.

Saturdays fixtures are dominated by the Welsh Cup when it is hoped that the clubs will gain a victory ensuring prize monies of at least £750 to look forward to.

In the league, Banw are at home to Newbridge whilst Llansantffraid Village and Presteigne host Builth Wells and Berriew rrespectively.

Where next?
