Great Friday night action at Penrhyncoch

By Phil Woosnam

Local football still very much alive

What a great advert for local football at Penrhyncoch last night in a game played on an excellent playing surface in front of over 350 spectators.
The local derby against Bow Street had everything including a sending off and no fewer than nine cautions in a game well refereed by Gwilym Lewis with Neil Holder and Steve Bradford playing their part as assistants.
Bow Street went into the game unbeaten after a tremendous start to the season under Phil Evans and with a young side were certainly more than a match for their more illustrious opponents.
This is Penrhyncoch's first season back in the Spar League after being relegated last year from the Cymru Alliance and they have not found things that easy so far. Last night being no exception until Josh Shaw's late goal proving to be the decisive winner.
Club stalwart Jack Jones said after the match that it was their best crowd in over ten years and was highly delighted that the game against Bow Street (apparently the first time the clubs have met in the same league for over 30 years) had been a massive success. The return will now be at Bow Street over the Christmas period.
