FORDEN withdraw from league

By Phil Woosnam

With the season still over a month away

Forden have sensationally withdrawn from the League after gaining promotion from Mont Amateur League 2 only a few weeks ago. A club statement read as follows :

It is with great regret that Forden United have now decided not to enter the Spar football league. After an over whelming three years and the success this year becoming champions of our respective league, it is with a heavy heart that we have had to put the club on the back burner for time being.
This unfortunate decision was reached after the loss of many players who have moved on to other clubs as well as not being able to fill the vacant manager’s position. The club remains financially sound with a stable committee.
In closing I would like to thank the departed manager – Neil Breeze, our committee, The Square & Compass, the players and especially Graham (Cocker) & Sandra Meredith for the endless work they have done behind the scenes.
Shane Clee – Forden United FC Vice Chairman.
